Julia Barton’s Littoral Art Project is an artistic inquiry into the environmental and ecological cost of marine litter, in which plastic plays a central role. Julia has set out to explore and examine the litter present on British beaches in which to determine its source, implications and how best to increase public awareness surrounding the matter.

The Littoral Art Project combines visual and performative aspects through litter cubes and talks to highlight the issue. The VMR has offered their support by promoting her work through promotional events such as beach cleans, where materials used to produce the litter cubes are collected.
