The Berwickshire coast is rich in both geological and human history and steeped in spectacular coastal scenery. The coastal path takes you on a historical and environmental tour of the quaint seaside villages, magnificent landscapes and the bustling life which call Berwickshire home. The Berwickshire coast is home to a staggering number of plant and animal species, including numerous seasonal flowering plants, bird life, marine mammals, insects and intertidal species. The summer months are best to witness the plethora of life, the cliffs are alive with the sound of sea birds which come back to nest and breed, the waters boil as gannets, minke whales and bottle nosed dolphins compete for fish and the ground is illuminated by the abundance of brightly coloured wild flowers and their butterfly companions.
