BioBlitz!

In this time of unprecedented change due to climate change, we want to monitor the effect this is having on our marine life. This year, we will be launching an exciting citizen science project to record the presence and abundance of as many marine species as we can on the rocky shore.

Four times a year, we will carry out a full assessment into the flora and fauna living on our rocky shores. This regular survey will allow us to monitor any changes in abundance of mairne life, and by doing them each year we can build up a long-term data set of changing diversity.

With huge thanks to Nature.Scot, we will be deploying Robo-Limpets (read about this exciting project here) and temperature probes across the Reserve. By analysing the data from the each BioBlitz throughout the year and comparing this to temperature data, we will be able to form an association between temperature changes and species changes.
